Amitabh Bachchan pays emotional musical tributes to Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor, watch videos
Indian cinema lost two icons in the same week. Irrfan Khan, who was battling neuroendocrine tumour, passed away on April 29, 2020 after he was admitted for colon infection. He was survived by his wife Sutapa Sikdar and sons Babil and Ayaan. A day after his death, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor breathed his last after his long battle with Leukaemia. The actor was survived by his wife Neetu Kapoor and two kids - Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. His death news was first confirmed by Amitabh Bachchan on Twitter on April 30, 2020.
While the actor couldn't attend the last rites, Abhishek Bachchan was in attendance to support to the grieving Kapoor family. Taking to his blog, Amitabh Bachchan recalled meeting Rishi Kapoor for the first time. "I had seen him at his home Deonar Cottage, Chembur, a young energetic, bubbly, mischief in his eyes Chintu, on those rare moments when I was privileged to have been invited to an evening at Raj ji’s house."
After his blog, Amitabh Bachchan shared musical tribute to Rishi Kapoor with whom he starred in 102 Not Out in 2018. Sharing the video, Amitabh wrote, “Waqt Waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam .. Tum rahe na tum, Hum rahe na hum.” The video has moments from 102 Not Out which was their last movie together as they played father and son in the film. The song played is the recreation of ‘Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam’ from Kaagaz Ke Phool, starring Waheeda Rehman and Guru Dutt.
He also shared a heartfelt tribute for his Piku co-star Irrfan Khan. “... nothing could be a better ode to Irfaan than this music piece , the theme of PIKU .. there is but a softer slower paced version .. and that just fills the heart up .. !”

He then posted a collage of pictures with both the actors and a message that is very emotional. “The death of an elder celebrity vs death of a younger .. the grief of the latter more intense than that of the former .. why ..? Because you lament the loss of opportunity in the latter .. the unrealised possibilities,” he wrote.

Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor worked in films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Coolie, Kabhie Kabhie, Ajooba and others. Their last work together was in 2018's 102 Not Out.
