20 in 2020: Priyanka Chopra relives her Miss India days, says she never expected to win the pageant
Priyanka Chopra is set to celebrate 20 years in the entertainment industry. On July 22, the actress shared a video talking about her career and invited her fans to share 20 monumental moments in the past two decades that shaped her career with the hashtag #20in2020. Kick-starting the series with Miss India days, she said that she never expected to win the pageant in 2000.
On July 23, she uploaded the first video in the series. Sharing it, she wrote, “Alright guys, we’re doing this! I’m watching footage from my Miss India pageant in 2000! This is where it all began... If you’ve never seen these before, you are in for quite a treat. #20in2020 @feminamissindia.”
“I turn 20 in 2020. It all started when I won Femina Miss India pageant in 2000,” she says. Going through the video footage, she said that it is hard to look at it now. “These pictures are hard to look at.” She quips, “I don’t even know how to do this pose.”
Recalling the question she was asked at Miss India, she repeats it by saying, “If you were God in the garden of Eden, who would you punish for the eternal sin? Adam, Eve or Satan?”
She had replied, “I would punish Satan, the serpent because I believe that evil is instigated not created. Eve thought Satan was right. She believed him. Let us get a moral from this -- to decipher between good and bad without being biased.”
She reacted to her statement from the past and said, “You are not born evil, you become one. Except some people, I guess.”
“2020 marks my 20 years in the entertainment industry! What?! You all have been by my side throughout this journey and your loyalty & support means the world to me. Join me as I take this trip down memory lane & celebrate #20in2020,” she had earlier written.
Priyanka Chopra made her Bollywood debut in The Hero: Love Story of a Spy in 2003.
On the work front, Priyanka Chopra has inked a two-year multimillion first-look TV deal with Amazon Studios. She has two Netflix productions in the pipeline - We Can Be Heroes and The White Tiger. She is also working on a wedding comedy with Mindy Kaling and biopic on Ma Anand Sheela. Besides these projects, she will star in Keanu Reeves' The Matrix 4.
